A TOURIST has spoken of their shock after spotting a "monster" in a forest which resembled the creature gollum from the Lord of The Rings movies.

The unnamed holidaymaker described the critter as a "monster" and said they spotted it while on a camping trip with a group of friends.

The person said they were left "terrified" by the creature which was snapped crouching like the iconic character from the Middle Earth movies.

However, after the picture was posted online an actor came forward to say it was just him in disguise as he took a break from filming a sci-fi movie.

The picture was taken in the valleys of Huairou in Beijing, China.

The tourist who took the picture said: "I walked far away to have a pee, and suddenly saw a monster.

"I took a few pictures of it, but I am now terrified."

After the snaps emerged an unnamed actor in China posted online that it was simply a case of mistaken identity.

The creature resembled the gollum character from the Lord of the Rings movies [WARNER BROS]

He said: "Over the weekend I and my friends went to the mountains to take a mini sci-fi film.

"And when I was having a pee, a person popped up and took pictures of me and shot away."
