'Your teeth were offside' Hilarious memes fill Twitter after England loss as Luiz Suarez hits the Headlines#TheElitePartyInJuly #Entertain9jar via @myentertain9jar

HE broke the hearts of a nation when a haul of two goals left England's World Cup hopes hanging by a thread.

But Twitter users were able to see the funny side of the Three Lions' loss to Uruguay as they posted hilarious tweets on the social networking site.

Shortly after Suarez scored his first goal one users posted a picture of a burning building and joked it was live images from the striker's UK house.

The witty tweet, from the Coupe du Monde 2014 account, received an incredible 2,278 retweets and was favourited almost 400 times.

While another post should a picture of the 27-year-old goal machine in training with the caption: "Luis Suarez your teeth were offside".

Another tweet, by the BBC Sporf spoof account, showed a picture of The Simpsons characters staring at the camera.

Alongside the picture was the caption: "#ThatMomentWhen Luis Suarez returns to the Liverpool dressing room next season."

The tweet, posted after the final whistle in last night's match, was retweeted 9,681 times and favourited 4,434 times.
Another post from the account, which has more than 673,000 followers, should a picture on an ugly looking large toothed animal.

Alongside the picture was the caption: "BREAKING: Luis Suarez celebrates his goal."

The tweet, which was posted after Suarez scored his first goal on 39 minutes, was retweeted more than 11,000 times.
Other pictures, presumably posted by Uruguay fans, hailed Suarez as a King with one doctored picture showing him celebrating his goal with the Queen.

Another tweet, using the iconic British 'Keep Calm' poster, had Suarez in the background with the caption: "Don't keep calm Suarez is here".

The 2-1 loss to Uruguay means England will be relying on other teams to falter for them to get through to the knockout stage.
Roy Hodgson's side will be hoping Italy beat Costa Rica this afternoon.

Then they need the Azzurri to beat the South Americans in the final game of Group D and England need to comfortably win against Costa Rica.

If the results go their way England could go through on goal difference but if Costa Rica and Italy draw today the Three Lions will be knocked out.
