Sky of blue, beach of green – Devon coast swamped in seaweed #TheElitePartyInJuly #IRepEntertain9jarBlog via @myentertain9jar

SUNBATHERS had to dig out their own patch of sand this week when a beach was covered in slimy seaweed.

The pea-green goo was four inches deep...and it smelt atrocious too.
Seaweed at Preston Beach, near Torquay, Devon, is cleared but only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Fridays, the council said.
Resident Carol Greechan, who headed to the sunspot on Monday with her two grandchildren, said: “I’ve been going there for 30 years and I’ve never seen it so bad.
“It was crispy on top and slimy underneath. The smell was absolutely revolting but the colour was remarkable.
“It was heart-breaking, we had to dig a little hole to find some sand in a pool of seaweed.”
