The classy playmaker was told he no longer has a future at the Nou Camp by new boss Luis Enrique, and will be allowed to leave for around £30million.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a return to north London as well as Premier League champions Manchester City, but reports claim that it is United and Chelsea who lead the race for his signature.

However Anfield favourite Robbie Fowler believes that a move to Merseyside would be the Spaniard's best option, and has told Brendan Rodgers to splash the cash on the midfielder.
The former Leeds and Man City star explained to TalkSport: "Fabregas is a player I've always liked. When those kind of players become available you always want to sign them.
