ARSENAL have rejected Manchester United's bid to sign defender Thomas Vermaelen, Liverpool and Tottenham chase versatile Valencia star Juan Bernat, and Chelsea prepare to offer Diego Poyet his Premier League opportunity.

 

Arsenal have knocked back Manchester United's opening bid to sign 28-year-old Belgian defender Thomas Vermaelen.

Liverpool and Tottenham will go head-to-head in a battle for £5m-rated Valencia starlet Juan Bernat. The Spaniard can operate as either a left-back or on the left-wing.
