Was Rachel Riley right? Odds HALVE on Chile to win World Cup after Countdown star's wager #TheEliteParty #Entertain9jar via @myentertain9jar

CHILE's stunning win over World Cup holders Spain last night was not only being celebrated in Santiago, with Countdown star Rachel Riley also likely to have had a smile on her face.

The show's resident maths expert pored over historical World Cup data to predict an improbable success for the South Americans prior to the tournament.
With Jorge Sampaoli's side continuing to surprise experts in Brazil, the TV presenter's seemingly outlandish forecast is looking less and less obscure.
Odds on Chile to be crowned world champions on July 13 have now halved to 20/1, placing them as seventh favourites - ahead of England, Belgium and Portugal.
Before the tournament Chile were priced at 40/1, having not progressed beyond the round of 16 since their third place in 1962, when they were hosts.
However, an impressive win over Australia in their first game, as well as last night's 2-0 success over Spain, has led many fans to believe Chile could progress far in Brazil.

Chile's odds have now been slashed in half to 20/1, but those who heeded our advice from Rachel Riley could have got odds of 40/1!

Professional number cruncher Miss Riley, an Oxbridge graduate, tirelessly examined goal averages, goal scorers, win rates, climate and geography from previous tournaments to reach her predictions.
During her study, commissioned by bookies Ladbrokes, the 28-year-old found performances in the qualifying rounds have a significant impact on who wins the World Cup every four years.
Speaking before the World Cup began, the Manchester United fan said: ""Having crunched all the numbers and stats my maths suggests Chile are a good bet to upset the odds at 40/1.
"They might be among the outsiders, but the statistics and form imply they will be this year's dark horses."
Jessica Bridge, from Ladbrokes, added: "We tipped Chile as a dark horse before the tournament began.
"And following two impressive results, including knocking out the reigning champions, punters are backing them like they're going out of fashion.
"Chile's odds have now been slashed in half to 20/1, but those who heeded our advice from Rachel Riley could have got odds of 40/1!
"Confidence will be at an all-time high, and now they're into the knockout phase, anything could happen."
