A PENSIONER was crushed to death by items she had hoarded when a floor in her house collapsed above her.
Police believe the house collapsed into the basement under the weight of clutter she had piled into the first-floor of her house.
It had stacks of items including newspapers, magazines and post piled up to the ceilings and waist-high mounds of clutter in other areas of the house.
Her body was found in the basement under a pile of debris at her home in Connecticut, US on Saturday.
Police sergeant Kevin O'Donnell said: "The floor gave way and collapsed into the basement. The contents of that room caved in on top of her."

Authorities found Ms Mitchell's body on the third day of searches.
Mr O'Donnell said: "It's unfortunate because ... we've tried all along to get her assistance, but she was a very private and solitary lady."
Mr O'Donnell said police had been to the house a number of times over the years responding to requests for welfare checks by neighbours.
He said officers had offered her help from local social service experts but she refused each time.
Mr O'Donnell said officials didn't realise the extent of the clutter in the home until they went inside.
Police are now searching for any remaining family Ms Mitchell may have.
